Law360 has named Williams & Connolly among its 2024 “Banking Groups of the Year.” According to the publication, this annual series honors the attorney teams behind litigation wins and significant transaction work that resonated throughout the legal industry this past year.
In profiling the firm’s practice, Law360 highlighted a number of significant wins over the past year, including winning an injunction on behalf of the American Bankers’ Association and other banking organizations against the Community Reinvestment Act rules issued by federal regulators and successful representation of Fifth Third Bank in litigation brought by the CFPB alleging unfair and abusive acts and practices in connection with allegedly unauthorized account openings. Additionally, Fifth Third, represented by Williams & Connolly, recently won a major jury trial in a certified customer class action brought over its "Early Access" cash advance loans, which the plaintiffs alleged the bank had effectively overcharged for.
