Kids in Need of Defense’s (KIND) Northern Virginia Office has recognized Discovery Attorney Indira-Josina K. Martell as Pro Bono Attorney of the Month for February 2023. In her three years volunteering with KIND, Indie has obtained lawful permanent resident status for four children and has been particularly successful in advocating for children who have struggled with adjusting to life in the United States. Recently, Indie successfully argued for prosecutorial discretion on behalf of two clients. In one case, her brief convinced the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA) to join her client’s motion to dismiss so that the client could have their application for adjustment of status adjudicated before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services office (USCIS).
Indie is an experienced attorney focusing on eDiscovery and document production in complex litigation matters. She advises clients on technological legal strategy and tactical support to ensure that discovery is cost-effective and defensible. Indie works in tandem with trial attorneys and legal technologists to strengthen case strategies and priorities throughout all phases of litigation. Her work spans a diverse range of practice areas including complex commercial disputes, intellectual property rights, white-collar defense and investigations, and pro bono matters.
