On May 10, 2022, partners Bill Burke and Craig Singer presented on a panel at the Working Group on Legal Opinions (“WGLO”) Spring Seminar. The panel, “Current Ethics Issues Relating to Transactions Practice,” addressed ethics issues for transactional lawyers arising in the wake of corporate scandals such as Enron and Worldcom, which led to changes in legal ethics rules and in securities laws and regulations governing lawyers. The panelists discussed the changes wrought by these events and their impact on opinion practitioners and business lawyers more generally. The WGLO seminars are hosted twice a year and bring together leading representatives from law firms, bar associations, and other attorney groups to discuss current issues confronting the legal opinion bar.
