Partner David Forkner will speak at the inaugural Cambridge Forum on Defense Food Litigation, which will be held in New Orleans, LA from November 17-19, 2021. The meeting will include in-house counsel and lawyers from the defense bar who focus their practice on litigating consumer packaged goods and food mislabeling matters. David is a steering committee member, and will lead a panel titled “Greenwashing: How to Ensure Best Intentions do not Pave the Way to Costly Litigation and Consumer Backlash.” The discussion will explore a number of topics, including: the perils of greenwashing claims and their many forms; the types of advertising and marketing claims that have been targeted; important revisions to the FTC's Green Guides; and trends in FTC enforcement activities regarding green marketing and trends in the application of federal and state consumer protection laws to claims of alleged greenwashing.
David is chair of the firm’s Food, Beverage and Pet practice group and focuses his practice on complex litigation. He has successfully defended commercial, class action, and criminal cases for a wide array of corporate and individual clients before federal and state courts, regulatory agencies, and arbitrators throughout the country. These matters have involved a variety of substantive claims, including products liability, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Act, antitrust, legal malpractice, medical malpractice, accounting malpractice, securities and financial services, trade secrets, health care, gaming, and corporate espionage.
