Joseph Petrosinelli, Ana Reyes, and Amy Saharia have co-authored a chapter titled “Preemption Defenses,” published in Product Liability Litigation: Current Law, Strategies and Best Practices (Second Edition). The guide covers trends in product claims and defenses, strategies for managing and resolving product litigation, and particular issues and tactics that can arise in different types of product cases.
Joe Petrosinelli is Chairman of Williams & Connolly’s Executive Committee and Co-Chair of the firm’s Products Liability practice group. Joe has tried numerous civil and criminal cases in federal and state courts, has been lead counsel in several significant U.S. and international arbitrations, and has represented clients in litigation and investigations matters in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Ana Reyes co-chairs the firm’s International Disputes practice group and is a member of its Executive Committee. She focuses her practice on complex litigation and international arbitration. She has handled matters involving foreign governments, foreign officials, multi-national corporations, and international organizations, representing clients throughout the world.
Amy Saharia focuses her practice on appellate litigation. She represents corporate and individual clients in high-stakes appeals, including product liability matters, in the U.S. Supreme Court and federal and state appellate courts around the country. She has argued numerous appeals in federal courts of appeals and has filed dozens of briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and appellate courts nationwide. Amy clerked for Justice Sonia Sotomayor on the U.S. Supreme Court from 2010 to 2011.
