Partners Lisa Blatt, Sarah Harris, and Beth Stewart headlined panels at the Women, Influence & Power in Law (WIPL) Conference on October 16-18, 2019 in Washington, D.C.  Williams & Connolly was a sponsor of the conference, which brings together leading female in-house and outside counsel from across the globe.

Lisa, Chair of the firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate practice group and one of the nation’s premier appellate advocates, headlined the conference’s Luncheon Spotlight Presentation: Supreme Court Update on October 17, 2019.  She discussed current trends in Supreme Court litigation and offered her perspective on why women are arguing only a fraction of the cases in front of SCOTUS and how that can change. The panel was moderated by partner Sarah Harris who also is a member of the firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate practice group.

Beth Stewart, who focuses her practice on white collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation, joined panelists from CoStar Group and Crestline Hotels & Resorts, among others, for the panel “360-degree View on How to Navigate a Crisis.”  The panel explored ways to arm counsel with a plan to protect the company and minimize long-term problems when dealing with crisis situations.
