Williams & Connolly’s Healthcare practice group has been selected as one of Law360's “Health Practice Groups of the Year” for 2015.  This annual series highlights practice groups whose clients have notched the biggest litigation victories or deals of the year.  Winners are recognized for the size, complexity and significance of the deals or litigation they worked on.

Over the last 15 years, Williams & Connolly has established itself as a firm that many large healthcare companies turn to when faced with high-stakes government investigations and litigation.  In active litigation, the firm fights hard for its clients from motion to dismiss through trial, and its clients have had success in achieving favorable outcomes, particularly in this past year.  Notably, in two cases in which the firm was brought in only after the court had denied motions to dismiss filed by other firms, Williams & Connolly guided the litigation through discovery and the firm’s clients prevailed on summary judgment.  In another case, in the midst of discovery, the Relator agreed to dismiss all claims against the firm’s client in a settlement with no monetary component.  In addition, firm clients prevailed on a motion to dismiss on public disclosure grounds in a False Claims Act case in Massachusetts, and obtained another dismissal in another False Claims Act case also on public disclosure grounds affirmed by the Third Circuit.  Even before cases become active litigation, the firm’s clients have had many successes in shutting down government investigations when the firm has been brought in at the outset of the investigation.
