Williams & Connolly partners Sarah Harris and Amy Saharia from the Firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate Litigation practice will present the CLE “Supreme Court 2023 Term in Review and a Preview of Next Term” on the key business cases, major decisions, and big themes of Term. They will also discuss the outlook for next Term for business cases and other notable developments.

During the 2023 Term, the group argued and served as lead counsel in four merits cases before the Supreme Court.

SPEAKERS:

Sarah Harris has argued five Supreme Court cases in recent Terms and obtained one summary reversal. She has presented many arguments in federal courts of appeals and state appellate courts. Sarah’s appellate cases have run the gamut of substantive areas, including constitutional law—especially First Amendment and separation-of-powers issues—as well as administrative law, arbitration, class actions, antitrust, False Claims Act litigation, commercial litigation, and federal civil procedure. Before joining the firm, she served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General at DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel and clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas. Sarah is widely recognized nationwide for her appellate advocacy by Chambers USA, The National Law Journal, Law360, Benchmark Litigation, The Legal 500 and Bloomberg Law.

Amy Saharia has argued twice in the U.S. Supreme Court. She has represented clients in every federal court of appeals and has argued in a majority of the federal courts of appeals. Amy’s appellate matters have involved a broad range of subject matters, including intellectual property, criminal law, product liability, preemption, civil procedure, and administrative law. Amy clerked for Justice Sonia Sotomayor on the U.S. Supreme Court from 2010 to 2011. Amy’s appellate practice has been nationally recognized. In 2024, Forbes named Amy to its inaugural list of “Top 200 Lawyers in the U.S.” Amy has also been recognized in the appellate field in Chambers USA and as a “Next Generation Partner” by The Legal 500, as well as a "Future Star" by Benchmark Litigation
