On September 1, 2023, Lawdragon named Williams & Connolly senior counsel Bruce Genderson and Lane Heard to their Litigators Hall of Fame list. According to the publication, the list recognizes the “most respected and game-changing litigators of the past three decades in commercial, white collar, antitrust, intellectual property, business & financial and appellate litigation.”
Bruce Genderson founded and is the senior trial lawyer in Williams & Connolly’s patent litigation practice. He is nationally-known for his work representing major corporations in patent disputes. Over the course of his more-than-three-decade career, he has represented some of the world’s largest companies in patent infringement suits involving billion-dollar-a-year pharmaceuticals, complex biotechnology inventions, computers and electronics, and medical devices. Bruce began building Williams & Connolly’s patent litigation practice in the mid-1990s, and it is now among the firm’s largest groups.
Lane Heard’s practice over the past thirty years has involved an array of litigation matters, including the defense of medical malpractice, legal malpractice, libel, and commercial disputes, including a half-billion dollar dispute arising from the collapse of a reservations-system software development project and the international arbitration of a multi-billion patent-licensing dispute. For the past two decades, Lane has devoted his time to the defense of mass tort pharmaceutical claims—Pfizer’s Norplant, Diet Drug, Thimerosal and Hormone Therapy litigations and, currently, Cardinal Health’s opioid litigation.
