Partners Thomas Fletcher, Sarah Harris, Luke McCloud, and Katie Trefz have been selected to Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List.” The publication highlights achievements of accomplished legal partners who are forty years old or younger. According to Benchmark Litigation, the list was assembled through a process of peer reviews and case examinations.
Tom Fletcher’s practice focuses on patent litigation and licensing disputes, primarily in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields. Tom has represented clients in Hatch-Waxman trials, in appellate proceedings in the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and in inter partes review proceedings before the PTO. Tom has also represented clients in proceedings under the BPCIA. In 2018, Tom was recognized by LMG Life Sciences with the "U.S. Rising Star – Intellectual Property" award. This marks his third year on Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List.”
Sarah Harris represents clients in high-stakes appeals in the U.S. Supreme Court and federal and state appellate courts across the country. She has argued three cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, prevailing in all three.* Law360 ranked her as one of five 2021 “MVPs” in Appellate Law. She has been named to Bloomberg Law’s "40 Under 40" list of top lawyers nationwide as well as an appellate “Rising Star” by The National Law Journal and Law360, a “Next Generation Lawyer” by The Legal 500, and as one of Bloomberg Law’s “Five Fresh Faces to Know in Appellate.”
Luke McCloud’s practice focuses on complex civil matters, with an emphasis on patent litigation. Luke has tried cases to judgment in federal and state courts. His clients have included global pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, leading technology companies, financial institutions, law firms, and individuals. Luke has been recognized by The Legal 500 as a Rising Star—General Commercial Disputes (2020-2022) and by Managing IP as a Rising Star (2020). In 2022, Bloomberg selected him to their "40 Under 40" list in the category of Appellate & Intellectual Property law.
Katie Trefz focuses her practice on criminal defense and government and internal investigations. She serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Internal Investigations practice group. Katie’s work for corporations and senior executives has involved a wide array of substantive allegations, including securities fraud, mail and wire fraud, antitrust crimes, violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), money laundering, tax fraud, and violations of the False Claims Act (FCA), among others. Her matters have spanned several industries, including finance, telecommunications, automobile manufacturing, law, accounting, food, health care, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, and professional sports. In 2020, Katie was selected to Law360’s "Rising Stars" list for White Collar Defense.
