On October 13, 2020, Williams & Connolly filed an amicus curiae brief in the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on behalf of the National Veterans Legal Services Program and the National Organization of Veterans' Advocates. In Arellano v. Wilkie, the issue before the court is whether veterans’ benefits claims may be subject to equitable tolling, such that veterans would be afforded the opportunity to explain to the Department of Veterans Affairs why they could not file for benefits within a year of discharge and seek relief from that deadline as a result. The amicus brief explains how the denial of equitable tolling impacts veterans and is unjust.
The team representing National Veterans Legal Services Program and the National Organization of Veterans' Advocates includes Shayon Ghosh, Anna Johns Hrom, and Liam Montgomery.
