We are sad to report that Williams & Connolly’s last surviving founding partner, Jeremiah "Jerry" Collins, passed away on April 21, 2020 at the age of 90. He died at home peacefully, surrounded by his family. On January 1, 1967, Jerry accompanied Paul Connolly in joining the existing law office of Edward Bennett Williams to create Williams & Connolly, and he remained at the firm for 50 years, until his retirement in 2017. It is impossible to put into words what Jerry meant to our firm, not simply because of his role in its founding, but because of the example he set for all of us in the way he practiced law with the highest integrity and skill, and the way he treated everyone in the Williams & Connolly family with compassion and care. He was beloved by all who had the great fortune to know and work with him. No one was a better partner, mentor, and friend, and we will miss him terribly.
