On Tuesday, March 5th, Williams & Connolly secured dismissal of a defamation and breach of contract suit against firm clients Fox News and 21st Century Fox. The suit was brought by a former producer who settled employment claims with the network in 2002. The suit alleged that the network had breached the deal’s non-disparagement and confidentiality clauses and defamed her by making public statements that portrayed her as an extortionate liar. A federal judge in New York ruled that the challenged statements were not susceptible to that interpretation and did not breach the agreement.
The firm was named a “Legal Lion” by Law360 in its “Weekly Verdict: Legal Lions & Lambs.” Click here to read coverage of the case by Law360.
21st Century Fox and Fox News is represented by Kevin Baine, Joseph Terry, and Jonathan Sidhu.
