On September 28, 2018, the firm submitted an amicus curiae brief on behalf of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Grace v. Sessions, a case currently before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The case concerns the U.S. Government’s recent asylum policies as reflected in Matter of A-B-, 27 I.&N. Dec. 316 (A.G. 2018), and subsequent administrative guidance. The firm’s amicus brief was submitted in support of plaintiffs’ cross-motion for summary judgment, and discusses how the asylum policies at issue are at variance with international law and U.S. treaty obligations.
The Williams & Connolly team representing the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees includes Ana Reyes, Xiao Wang, and Youlin Yuan.
