The firm was named a “Legal Lion” by Law360 for its successful representation of former Bolivian President Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada and Minister of Defense José Carlos Sánchez Berzaín. On May 30, 2018, a Florida federal judge granted a defense motion in favor of Williams & Connolly’s clients. The court entered judgment for both defendants, ruling that no reasonable jury could find evidence sufficient to hold the former President of Bolivia and Defense Minister responsible for civilian deaths during violent protests in that country in 2003.
