The firm served as lead counsel for E.F. Transit, an Indiana transportation services company that sought regulatory approval to transport liquor on behalf of a wholesaler. After the State of Indiana refused to permit the transportation arrangement, E.F. Transit filed suit, arguing that the State’s actions were preempted by federal law. The district court dismissed the suit as unripe on the ground the State had never definitively ruled on the proposed arrangement. But the Seventh Circuit reversed and ruled in E.F. Transit’s favor, concluding that E.F. Transit’s preemption claim is ripe and remanding for further proceedings on the merits of E.F. Transit’s claim. Partner Amy Saharia argued the case for E.F. Transit. The team representing E.F. Transit also included Kannon Shanmugam, Katherine Meeks, and Eden Schiffmann.
